100 Black Men of Long Beach, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

$995 raised by 12 donors

Several prominent and concerned African-American men met on board the Queen Mary in 2007 to discuss ways to empower the African American community, especially African American young males. After several meetings Jesse B. Johnson, Jr. encouraged the core of the group to form a 100 Black Men of Long Beach Interest Group. A charter was granted in December of 2008 by the 100 Black Men of America, Inc.
Therefore, the 100 Black Men of Long Beach, Inc. programs mirror that of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. which are ("Four for the Future") Mentoring, Health & Wellness, Education and Economic Empowerment. Our Mentoring Program (GRITS) focuses on young men 8 to 18 years old and it is our longest standing and most consistent program. The monthly program is held at California State University, Long Beach on every 3rd Saturday. The California State University Long Beach is one of our long standing community partners. In addition, we have provided our community with very successful Health and Wellness programs. Which have focused on Cancer and Heart care awareness for the entire African American community including Women, Men and the Youth.
