For over a decade, Dove Creek Equine Rescue has been focused on one primary goal: giving unwanted and neglected horses a second chance in life. Rescuing, rehabilitating, retraining, and rehoming these majestic creatures has only been possible through the generous support of donors like you! Our organization is thriving, and we have been able to rescue 247 animals in need since we opened our gates in 2012.

and humans who need healing and direction...

In 2017, we created Led by Horses, our equine-assisted therapy program. Trained coaches partner with horses to guide humans in need of healing and clarity. We collaborate with area nonprofits to enhance the emotional health of their clients with programs that address grief, domestic violence, and other life-altering events. We are in the process of expanding this program by training additional coaches to meet the need in our community.

Dove Creek’s robust volunteer program is a compassionate community of 128 volunteers who love providing tender, loving care to our herd of horses and barnyard animals. Every day, rain or shine, volunteers fill in the gaps of our small staff by providing hands-on help mucking, grooming, feeding, leading tours and field trips, and more.

Horses have been humanity's steadfast companions for millennia, serving in diverse roles including work, warfare, transportation, recreation, and performance. As our reliance on them for transportation has diminished, our partnership with these magnificent creatures is evolving towards a new frontier- that of the heart and mind. 

Our relationship with horses has become a powerful symbol of our vision and commitment to creating a better world for all beings. Through our interactions with these noble animals, we hope to inspire a ripple effect, touching lives and creating positive change.

Our mission is to Rescue. Rehabilitate. Retrain. & Rehome horses in the Texas panhandle who need a second chance in life, those who have been neglected, abandoned, or surrendered. We provide education on responsible horse care as well as connect horses and humans in partnership through natural horsemanship and equine-facilitated learning, creating positive change in our community and world.
