The Downey Side story begain in Springfield, MA in 1967 when Father Paul Engel, OFM Cap (Executive Director & Founder), placed a 17-year old boy in the home of Margaret Downey. Since that time, Downey Side has expanded and has several offices in other states such as New York, Massachusetts, Minnestoa, Connecticut, New Jersey Missouri & Kansas. To date Downey Side has placed more than 6000 children with permanent families.
Downey Side specializes in placing older children (7- 17 years), minorities, physically & emotionally challenged children & sibling groups.
