Stand Up for the Future - Support DCP's Capital Campaign Fundraiser

Together, we have an opportunity to build a major community institution that will put generations of students and families on the path to educational attainment.

In October 2015, DCP secured a 50-year lease with the San Jose Unified School District for the property at the former Southern Lumber located at 1402 Monterey Highway near downtown San Jose.

DCP will convert the existing warehouses into a 21st century campus designed to promote inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving rooted in science, technology, arts, mathematics and literacy. The facility includes team teaching classrooms, science labs, presentation, performance and research spaces, digital and studio arts labs and an environmental science teaching garden. DCP will finance the improvements to the facility using tax-exempt municipal bonds and philanthropic donations.

DCP’s capital campaign has the support of several generous donors but we need you to Stand Up for the Future and make a meaningful gift to ensure we achieve our $2M goal.

About DCP
Few individual achievements mean as much to our family and our community as graduating from college. For DCP students - who come from neighborhoods where only 1 in 100 complete college - a university degree is a profound symbol of hope and accomplishment.

DCP has made college success for first-generation students a reality. Our alumni have taught us that the path to college is not linear - rather, it is notched by financial constraints, family expectations, academic challenges, and personal experience. It is through their committment, resilience, self-advocacy, and stewardship of DCP's mission, that our alumni have made college graduation a newfound tradition for San Jose families and neighborhoods.

Our student population is 96% Latino, 90% low-income, 80% of incoming students performed 2+ years below grade level in English and/or Math, and 96% will be the first in their family to attend and graduate from college.

Here are some of DCP's Successes:

  • DCP graduates complete college at the rate of 60% compared with 11% for similar students nationwide.
  • 100% of DCP seniors apply to 4-year universities.
  • DCP students are 4x more likely to enroll in CSU/UC compared to all Latino high school graduates in CA
  • 96% of DCP graduates attend college directly after high school
