What is Drunk Driving Prevention?

It's 2017 and drunk driving is STILL killing 10,000 people each year. While many admit that drunk driving is preventable, the focus is usually on using law as a deterrent. Even though stiffer penalties are providing much needed justice for victims, the cause of drunk driving is being ignored and therefore the amount of drunk driving fatalities is remaining steady.

The needle is not being moved and it NEEDS to be. 90% of all drunk driving happens when we have been drinking with family, friends, and coworkers. As a society, we drink together and let each other drive away. This is a root cause of drunk driving that needs to be addressed aggressively.

DrinkingAndDriving.Org creates and provides educational resources along with real tools to prevent drunk driving.

Young drivers from over 1,000 schools visit our DUI Avoidance Lesson Plan every week along with scores of military bases, hospitals, and wellness centers.

Over 10,000 people have taken our SoberDrivers Pledge.

Thousands have made it home safely with their cars using our National Directory of Designated Driver Services.

With the help of sponsors, we have given away nearly 400 breathalyzers at live events. Most of them were on keychains.

Through our website, public events, and social media, we are sharing what it means to #BePrevention.  We are creating a movement of people who say, “I’m not going to drive impaired and I’m not going to let you either!”
