Dryades YMCA

The mission of the Dryades Y is to help people of all ages develop character, competence, and commitment. Since 1905, we are steadfast in our cause to enhance, strengthen and improve the lives of the people and communities we serve. At the Y we are for: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

Your support of the Dryades Y nurtures the potential of every child and teen by supporting their academic, physical, and social-emotional development through holistic programs that help youth learn, grow, and thrive. Last year, more than 1200 youth participated in Dryades Y programs.

Summer and Afterschool programs focus on closing the Achievement Gap and giving youth a safe place to be, while also helping them realize what they can achieve. Youth can explore STEM and nature, develop new talents, engage in enriching activities, gain independence, make lasting friendships and memories, and just as important - have fun.

Safety Around Water is an independent program designed to reach children who are most at risk of drowning. They learn basic water safety skills that overlap with the Swim Basics stage of YMCA swim lessons.

Youth Sports affords every participant the opportunity to gain technical skills along with a sense of achievement, relationships and belonging in a variety of sports including basketball, flag football, track, and volleyball. Dryades Y tailors sports offerings to our community's interests and needs.

Meet Rashaad!
Rashaad is 10 years old and full of energy. He comes to the Y every day. Last school year, Rashaad had many behavior challenges. He was often in trouble for outbursts of anger and did not know how to express his overwhelming emotions. He had gone through many things at his young age. Earlier this year, Rashaad came to our garden at the Y. He asked about the farmer who was working in the garden. Rashaad not only wanted to meet the young farmer but he volunteered to work in the garden. We allowed Rashaad to work and now he has recruited other kids to help too.
