Dryhootch

The mission of Dryhootch is to "Help veterans and their families who survived the war, thrive in the peace." This mission is actualized via a successful Peer Support Program that is the cornerstone of Dryhootch. Peer support is essential in empowering veterans and their families to overcome issues such as drug and alcohol addiction, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury, moral injury, depression and other mental health illnesses, family relationship issues, unemployment and homelessness. 

 Dryhootch has been recognized nationally as a leading veteran service organization and has received support and recognition from numerous organizations such as the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association, Medical College of Wisconsin, Marquette University, McCormick Foundation and Fisher House Foundation. In 2012, Dryhootch  was honored as a White House Champion of Change for their work in veteran peer support. Dryhootch received the 2016 Newman's Own Award and  was invited to a reception at the Pentagon to accept this prestigious award. Also in 2016, Dryhootch received the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Family & Community Medicine Partnership of the Year Award. Most recently, Dryhootch was voted Best Organization Supporting Veterans in the 25th Annual Shepherd Express Best of Milwaukee Contest.

At Dryhootch, veterans enjoy the support of others who have navigated the same pathway home. If they’re experiencing post-deployment challenges—no matter when or where they served—they can learn about programs available to help their transition. We offer peer support, not therapy, but we can also help people find and connect with whatever other services or resources they might need.
