The mission of the Dumas Wesley Community Center of Mobile, Alabama is to EDUCATE, EMPOWER and ENRICH our local community through collaborative programs of Christian service that: Provide for immediate human needs, Strengthen family life, Develop leadership and encourage personal responsibility.  For 109 years Dumas Wesley has faithfully served low-income families, individuals, and children in need in  Mobile, Alabama and concentrating in the 36607 zipcode area.  With your help we hope to continue to provide consistent, quality services in our programs listed below.

  1. Senior SAIL (Senior Activities for Independent Living) program: Seniors age 60+. enjoy daily social activities, congregate on-site lunches for 34 seniors daily, delivery of 30 hot meals to homebound seniors residing in the 36607 and 36617 zip codes, health and wellness checkups.
  2. Transportation program: Seniors age 60+ are transported to much needed doctor appointments on Monday and Wednesday from 9-2. 
  3. Transitional Housing program: Sybil H. Smith Family Village serves homeless women and women with children.  To date we have served over 390 women.  Our 2 year program provides a stable environment which helps women regain their independence and obtain permanent housing.   
  4. Neighborhood program: Serves families and children who live in the Mobile area.  We have after school recreation for children and teens in the Crichton community, afterschool tutoring, summer programs for children in Crichton, recreation/sports leagues, and community outreach in the Crichton community. 
  5. CACFP (Child Adult Care Food Program): We monitor the feeding program in over 70 home day cares in Mobile and Washington Counties.   As part of this program, the CACFP staff provides training on nutrition, parenting and other pertinent topics to these day care providers.   
  6. Dumas Wesley also partners with the following non-profit programs and services; The Center for Family and Community Development, The Joseph Project Food Pantry, The University of South Alabama School of Nursing Neighborhood Healthcare Clinic, University of Mobile SIFE Club, Pro Bono Legal Assistance for Refugees and Immigrants.
