Durango Playfest

Durango PlayFest is a week-long play development festival that brings affordable, world-class theatre to a predominantly rural region of Southwest Colorado, while providing meaningful employment for students and community members, and hosting a variety of educational opportunities for the public.

PlayFest attracts well-known actors, playwrights and directors to Durango to workshop new plays, hold free events for the community, and engage audiences with staged readings. Audiences have a window into the creative process, and interact with professionals during post-reading Q&A sessions and other events. PlayFest is committed to educational opportunities through its successful internship program and the recently launched REAL-WORLD THEATRE speaker series for youth.
