Meet Lady ... She is Our "Why"

Lady (a lovely 20 something year old mare) and 15 of her friends came to us in August 2012 through local law enforcement in Iron County, Utah.

Although we did everything possible to save her, sadly, we lost Lady after only a few months.

Elsa was Found Frozen to the Ground ...

In January 2014, a 1½ year old filly and her momma, who came to be known as Elsa and Anna, were found neglected and starving in a backyard. The little filly, Elsa, was frozen to the ground.

Once again, the volunteers of Dust Devil Ranch Sanctuary for Horses worked tirelessly to save them, but Elsa was too weak to survive.

No horse should ever be mistreated as Lady, Elsa and Anna were … but we know from experience there will be others. It's why Dust Devil Ranch Sanctuary for Horses exists.

With your help, we can continue to help other horses in need and place them in FOREVER homes.

How We Help Abused and Homeless Horses

It's common for horses to require 3–6 months of critical care from the time they arrive. Our vet bills average about $2,000 per month, and occasionally they go much higher because of a few extreme cases. Ongoing expenses include feed, medical supplies, shelter bedding and grooming supplies.

Besides vet care, feed is our most critical expense. Feed costs average about $250 per horse per month, and we ordinarily care for 30–35 horses.

With a concerted effort between our horse rescue, our volunteers and the generous help from our veterinarians, trainers and farriers, we help these horses regain their health, their spirit, and live a happy life.

Typically, within a few months after their arrival, most of the horses are ready to go to loving homes. Those that can't be adopted due to age and/or special needs live at the ranch where they will be loved, cared for, and peacefully live out the remainder of their lives.

How You Can Help

Your gift to Dust Devil Ranch Sanctuary for Horses will help provide food, shelter, veterinary care and farrier services for the neglected, abused and abandoned horses in our care. We do not pay any salaries… we operate entirely with volunteers, so we rely 100% on donations from people like you!

Your gift will provide these horses with what they need to heal and recover. Please consider giving today and help us create a better world for horses.
