E W Griffith Elementary School

Griffith Elementary school was built in 1962. We are located in the Meadows Mall area near the center of Las Vegas. About half of our students are English Language Learners and 87% of students receive free and/or reduced lunch.

Research shows that community and parent involvement is key when it comes to helping students achieve success in school and in life, therefore, we are aiming to build community connections for our families and students. This year we worked with Communities in Schools; a nonprofit organization designed to support our families and students with their needs. Our staff met consistently with parents during monthly, bilingual Coffee Chats to provide families with information, access to resources, and to ask how we can support and provide parents with opportunities to be involved in their children's education. We received great feedback and ideas!

This is where you come in. We need support to enhance all students' educational experiences, and especially to assist students who are struggling, require language support, or are in need. We are in the process of developing our Parent Volunteer Center to further involve parents, provide language and family support, and increase understanding related to the Nevada Academic Content Standards.
