The U.S. needs more Black Engineers to continue our nation’s progress through STEM: science, technology, engineering and math. To help solve this problem, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is calling on 7th graders across the country to buckle down academically, set their sights on college and commit to graduating with an engineering degree in 2025!

Since 2005, East Bay NSBE Jr. Chapter has supported and promoted the teaching of computer science and other computing disciplines. NSBE provides opportunities for K–12 teachers and students to more successfully prepare themselves to teach and learn.  Through programs like Saturday STEM & Robotics, NSBE has served as a champion for inspiring students to take an interest in the disciplines.  The organization has also developed a Toolkit that contains core sets of learning standards designed to provide the foundation of Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Content Standards for a complete computer science curriculum at the K–12 level.

Innovative project ideas are generated and implemented throughout the year on the chapter, regional and national levels. Some of NSBE's present activities include tutorial programs, group study sessions, high school/junior high outreach programs, technical seminars and workshops, a national communications network (NSBENET), two national magazines (NSBE Magazine and NSBE Bridge), an internal newsletter, a professional newsletter (Career Engineer, a supplement in NSBE Magazine), resume books, career fairs, awards, banquets and an annual national convention.

Chapter Advisors

NSBE Jr. Chapter Advisors who want to join NSBE should join as NSBE Professionals or NSBE Professionals Affiliate members, depending on background.
