East Palo Alto Charter School (EPACS) is a leading K-8, public, charter school dedicated to preparing all students for success in college and beyond.

We equip students with the skills, habits and mindset necessary to achieve success in college and beyond. We believe that a college degree will provide our graduates with the opportunity to earn a family-sustaining income and make a positive impact on their community.

Only 20% of high school students of color in Silicon Valley graduate on time and college eligible. Approximately 10% of East Palo Alto residents have a bachelors degree and EPA’s high school dropout rate is estimated to be over 60%.

In a community with a broken education system, our students are changing the odds.

OUR APPROACH

  • Hold our students and staff to the highest expectations
  • Establish rigorous standards curriculum at every grade level
  • Reach all students through data-driven, differentiated instruction
  • Involve and empower families
  • Provide family support services
  • Extend the school day and year

OUR RESULTS

  • We are one of the top 5 public schools serving underprivileged students in Silicon Valley
  • In Math, our elementary students outperform disadvantaged students in Palo Alto, Woodside and Menlo Park
  • Aspire is the highest-performing, school system serving majority, low-income students in California
