DOGS ON CALL was founded by Frances McGowin and now consists on over 40 teams of volunteer handlers and their dogs. (DOC) provides comfort and compassion to those in need in various way including:

Nursing/Assisted Living Facilities: DOC volunteer teams visit numerous facilities in the Tri-County area on a regular basis.

Hospitals/Rehabilitations Centers: DOC teams visit several facilities including Jackson Hospital and Cancer Center, Crossbridge, and Baptist Cancer Center.

Children with Disabilities: Specialized DOC teams work with children with autism and other disabilities. They visit Easter Seals Children's Rehabilatation Center as well as Baptist East Children's Rehabilation Center. They also work with special needs families in goal oriented therapy.

At Risk Youth: DOC teams visits the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility.

Disaster Relief: DOC teams participate in partnership with the Red Cross in relief efforts.

Pet Therapy has been proven beneficial in many ways and can remove barriers in order to accelerate progress and healing.

DOGS ON CALL offers free training for dogs and their handlers who are considering Therapy work.

All DOC services are provided free of charge.
