Edu-Futuro

A nonprofit organization

This Spring2ACTion, your support can create real opportunities for Latino, immigrant, and other underserved students and their families. At Edu-Futuro, we believe that access to mentorship, leadership, and civic engagement can change lives. Since our founding 27 years ago by a small group of immigrant parents who saw the disparities affecting their children, we have grown to become one of the largest minority-led nonprofit organizations in Northern Virginia, serving nearly 4,000 students and parents each year in Arlington County, Fairfax County, Prince William County, and the City of Alexandria.

Your donation will help Edu-Futuro reach an estimated 300 Alexandrians this fiscal year through our Two-Generation programs, including:

  • The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), our flagship youth program, designed to fulfill Edu-Futuro's vision of a "Classroom-to-Career" continuum of support that helps students graduate from high school, enroll in college, and achieve professional success. Each year, hundreds of students participate in ELP's five core initiatives: afterschool ELP STEM Robotics clubs for grades 6-8; virtual Pre-ELP high school preparation workshops for grades 6-8; ELP-I college readiness and leadership workshops for grades 9-12; ELP-II year-long college enrollment mentorship and scholarships/financial aid guidance for high school seniors; and ELP-III college life guidance and mentorship for students attending local postsecondary institutions.
  • Parent Empowerment Services (PES) that complement our youth programs through workshops helping low-income, immigrant, and Latino parents navigate local school systems, become more involved in their children's education, and improve family communication. Our Case Management Services provide emergency assistance to families in need, connecting beneficiaries to rental support, food distribution, health services, and other aid programs.
  • Workforce Development Services (WDS) that build on PES supports to equip parents with essential skills needed to leave low-wage service jobs and improve their families' economic well-being. Core services include: our popular computer and smartphone literacy course, Tech for Parents, and Resume & Cover Letter Workshops; our comprehensive year-long GED Certification Program; financial literacy workshops through the Financial Empowerment Network; and one-on-one employment counseling.

Your gift will help us deliver these programs, break down barriers, and give young people and their families in Alexandria the tools they need to succeed--breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Thanks to a generous $2,000 match from the Rita Susswein Gottesman Fund, your donation will go even further--amplifying your impact and helping us reach more students in need.

Join us in building a future where every young leader has a chance to be heard. Give today and double your impact!
