Educare New Orleans

A nonprofit organization

Educare New Orleans is a high-quality, evidence-based early education model with proven results. Our mission is to prepare our students for kindergarten on grade with their peers from more affluent households. It is a model for a holistic, intensive and uncompromising focus on quality to which all communities must aspire in order to empower our most vulnerable children and families to succeed and break the cycle of poverty.

Educare New Orleans (ENO) opened its doors in 2013 in the Gentilly neighborhood at Columbia Parc at the site of the former St. Bernard housing development. We are a full-day, full-year early childhood education provider, serving 168 students ages 6 weeks to 5 years old from families across New Orleans. ENO is the first step in the "cradle to career" progression - preparing children and their families to succeed when they transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Educare's practices are rooted in our Theory of Change model, which is based on four core components: data utilization, embedded professional development, high-quality teaching practices and intensive family engagement. As a result, ENO has been able to maintain excellent results and transition students to kindergarten on grade level despite the many challenges that our children and families face. The Educare curriculum focuses on skills that involve language and literacy, social-emotional development, early math concepts, problem-solving and motor development. Educare New Orleans also implements a two-generational (sometimes three-generational) approach, simultaneously addressing the needs and goals of both children and the adults in their lives.
