Education Foundation for Dothans Future Inc

The Education Foundation for Dothan's Future, Inc. is an independent, non-profit local education organization dedicated to creating higher expectations for our public schools and our community.  We are the group who broght "Yes We Can! Dothan" to our city and have provided the leadership and commitment to continue to help grow and strengthen our school system and our city.

Founded in 1995, the Education Foundation has committed to improve the quality of teaching by helping to strengthen student achievement, improve classroom instruction and build community support in Dothan City Schools through local, state and national partnerships.  We strive to rally the support of the community - individuals, benefactors, families and businesses.  We build on our strengths, enhance our greatest assets and maximize dividends for public education by helping our children achieve at higher levels.  With a solid foundaiton we are here to invest in the education of our children, for their teachers and for this community.

Fundraising is the lifeblood of the Foundation.  Our annual golf tournament, the Morris Slingluff Memorial Golf Tournament will be held June 7, 2012 and the Chick-fil-A Leadercast Seminar sessions will be July 10, July 19 or July 24, 2012. 

When you invest in the Education Foundation, think of the child's mind, learning, exploring, growing and the teachers reaching and exploring.  What better return could there be! These students will eventually be the workforce facing tomorrow's challenges and the providers for their families and this community.

What happens in the classroom matters most.  The Foundation, with broad community support, can make a significant long-term investment in technology and professional development.  Since 1995, we have awarded $332,056.72 in grants encouraging innovative teaching, improving instruction and strengthening student achievement in the classroom.

The Education Foundation believes "Better Schools - Better Dothan".  We use proven instructional and community development models to promote high standards and high achievement for every child in Dothan City Schools.  The results of testing for Alabama public schools are published by the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama and shows Dothan City Schools as a much improved system and a leader for cities of similar size.
