"The Education Foundation Grants have helped me tremendously. Last year I received a small grant to buy timers for my class. Fluency is an important part of literacy. Students used timers daily and were able to borrow them to take home. Last year reading speeds improved a great deal because of these timers.

I have received grant money for sign language materials that I continue to use each year, especially for class management. I also received a grant to buy newspapers for my class. My students have been writing for the Hillsboro Argus Kid Scoop for eight years.

Without Education Foundation Grants, none of these programs would have been funded. These grants have been a valuable resource for my classes.”

“If it were not for the Education Foundation, we would have a very different music program at NAMS. With generous grants from the EF, I have been able to accomplish several goals for my students and the music program. 17 years ago, I was asked to start a guitar class. We had no line item in the budget for the class and certainly no money for instruments. I wrote for a grant through the Foundation and was able to purchase four guitars. The next year, I wrote another grant and got guitar cases. Over the next several years, I continued to write grants until we had 20 guitars with cases. We can now offer guitars for students who want to take the class, but do not have instruments of their own.

A few years ago, our sound system was becoming unstable and in need of a serious overhaul. Our system is used of all concerts as well as a variety of student activities. I wrote for a grant and again, the Education Foundation came through. I approached several businesses in town seeking funds to match the EF grant. Now, we have a great system for concerts and one for assemblies.

The Education Foundation also supplied money to purchase new music for our choirs program – the first new music purchase that has been made in five years. Thank you Education Foundation of Forest Grove!”

Our Vision:

Generating diversity of opportunity through collaboration, creativity and growth

Who We Are:

Established in 1989, the Education Foundation of Forest Grove is an independent non-profit organization assisting the Forest Grove School District in expanding the educational opportunities and resources available to our students.

Each year, the Foundation funds six college scholarships (the Coon Family Scholarship, two Genevieve Guyton Scholarships, the Margaret Spang Scholarship, the Gil Jimenez Scholarship and the Alumni Scholarship) to Forest Grove High School seniors, The foundation also awards grants to teachers to help fund classroom/school projects and helps to support district wide programs.

The funds we raise come from events like the Christmas with the Trail Band Concert, yearly various fundraisers, annual appeals, grants, endowments and donations.

It is our hope that through these funds we will be able to help bring back programs and electives that have been lost in previous years.

Unfortunately, the cost of materials and programs rise and because of this, the call for support is getting greater. To continue supporting our teachers, we need your help.
