eduKenya is a movement of people who believe that life can be radically different for the 600,000 people who reside in the Mathare slum of Nairobi, Kenya.

Our vision is that every child and his or her family will experience physical, economic, social and spiritual transformation, and we work to make this a reality by providing opportunity, person by person and family by family.

eduKenya is passionate about seeing every child in the Mathare slum break free from the cycle of poverty and reach his or her God-given potential. We holistically tackle the root causes of poverty by empowering children through education, teaching income generating skills to parents and caring for community members living with HIV/AIDS and other life threatening conditions. We believe all people are made in the image of God and created to experience fullness of life.

eduKenya's Kwa Watoto School (which means "for the children" in Swahili) provides a quality education, nutritious feeding program, regular medical check-ups and enrichment programs for 200 elementary aged children. We are proud that our school ranked #1 among all schools in a regional consortium on test performance last year.

eduKenya is committed to sustainably resourcing programs for the long-term impact of children and families in Mathare. Our unique sustainability model includes the purchase of properties in Nairobi, the rental incomes of which are used to fund program operational costs. We invest in properties both to support the local economy and also to provide improved housing for community members, many of whom previously lived in informal structures without running water or electricity.

Thank you for your partnership in helping children and families living in abject poverty in Mathare break the cycle of poverty!
