We need your help to renovate the proscenium (stage opening) and office area in our 167-year old historic building. This vital upgrade will help ensure that everyone, regardless of physical ability, can fully access and enjoy our cherished landmark. Effingham Preservation Society's Mission:  "To promote the preservation of the landmarks and historic buildings in Effingham, New Hampshire and assisting in the preservation of the same."  Our current focus is on a multi-year repair, restoration and rehabilitation preservation project of this 1858 Historic Town Hall-Library building. The building is listed on both the NH State and National Register of Historic Places.

Who We Are

Effingham Preservation Society's mission is to preserve historic buildings and landmarks of Effingham, NH.

By 2028, Effingham's 250th anniversary, to repair, restore and rehabilitate the historic Effingham Town Hall-Library as a usable community center social space and renovated Public Library space to serve the diverse needs of all Effingham and local area residents. This project will help to harness the unifying spirit of our town and the local New Hampshire and Maine area. Phase 2 second floor among other items will repair & restore the historic windows and exterior double doors.
