In 1940, five young college graduates joined forces to form an organization that would provide opportunities for social and civic involvement within the black community. The organization was named Egelloc Club, which is college spelled backwards.

The founding members were:

· Cleomie Ward Bloomfield

· Christina Martin Eve (Member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church for 88 years)

· Julia Washington Hepburn

· Wilhelmina Ross Page and

· Eddie Lee Wilson

Soon after the club was organized, other young women in the community with similar interests, requested membership. Eligibility for membership was a college graduate, civic and religious involvement, an interest in charity work and human relations, and a sincere commitment to affecting social change.

The very first social affair the organization hosted was a formal dance, and thereafter many other community events followed and continue to this present day: To name a few:

· Thanksgiving baskets to families in need

· Initiatives at convalescent and nursing homes

· Contributions to the United Negro College Fund and Educational Scholarships

· Sisterly worship service visits and youth department monetary donations at various member affiliated churches

· Annual Christmas Toy Drives

· Hurricane Relief Support

Since 1970, it's annual signature event is the Men of Tomorrow Presentation, which is the introduction of eleventh and twelfth grade young men to society.
