El Grupo Youth Cycling

El Grupo supports empowering over 600 youth annually that are underserved or simply uninspired and giving them something positive to be excited about, as well as self-confidence.

Through our programs (Team El Grupo & Youth Empowering Youth outreach), we are getting youth on bikes, and they in turn are teaching, inspiring and empowering other youth to ride, enjoy and love bikes. El Grupo uses the bicycle as a means for positive development for at-risk or underserved youth that would not otherwise have healthy, skill-building, and goal-oriented activities in their lives. Through donations from the community, El Grupo provides all bikes, equipment, clothing and gear to youth.

 

Our programs address two community problems: childhood obesity and the need for high quality out-of-school time engagement for youth. El Grupo provides both to underserved youth, as well as youth who are simply uninspired, and need direction, inspiration, and confidence. All youth need a path. El Grupo provides a positive, healthy one, and more. We empower youth to take leadership roles in getting more youth excited about being active, healthy, and engaged in the community - through bicycles. As one youth testimonial confirms: “El Grupo gives me purpose in life. Otherwise, I don’t know where I would be. This is a very good place for me.” El Grupo has served this ongoing role for youth in our community in expanding ways and to a growing number of youth since our founding in 2007. The demand from the community for our programs is only growing.
