Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh

A nonprofit organization

The Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh is dedicated to providing residential homes and non-residential services for persons with intellectual disabilities and promoting public awareness of their needs. The Community, inspired by Faith and a desire to help others, seeks to improve the quality of life for persons with intellectual disabilities. In living, working, and breaking bread together, people with and without disabilities enjoy fellowship by sharing who they are and what they have with one another.

Emmaus currently operates eight permanent homes serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Emmaus is licensed and monitored by the State Office of Developmental Programs. Each year, the Emmaus Community provides more than 11,000 units of service for adults with intellectual disabilities. When an individual comes to Emmaus, he or she comes for life. Support is provided 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, year-round. Emmaus seeks to provide not only housing, but true homes, where individuals with intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to build relationships, pursue personal goals, and achieve wellness in all areas of life.
