Healthy Homes. Healthy People. Healthy Communities.
We continue to serve as trailblazers on the frontline in the mission to achieve environmental health and safety in our homes and neighborhoods, just as we have for over 40 years. Our mission is to create healthy, regenerative communities by justly enriching environments and respecting the value of people and place.
Healthy Homes
Environmental Health Watch believes that everyone should have a right to a healthy home. Our historical work coined the term Healthy Home, something now defined by a set of Principles used by Housing and Urban Development and the National Center for Healthy Housing. The EHW Healthy Homes Programming works to assess, develop a plan of action, and mitigate home health risks in Cleveland and includes our core Healthy Homes Assessments program.
Healthy People
Environmental Health Watch believes in the overall health and wellbeing of all people. Everyone should have access to the knowledge and ability to build a healthy lifestyle, and our work focuses on eliminating negative social determinants of health stemming from racism, poverty, and other marginalizing factors. EHW’s Healthy People programs focus on community access to healthy food, access to and activation of political power, and overcoming the systemic barriers preventing people from living a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Communities
Environmental Health Watch believes that every community should consist of an ecosystem designed with the value of people and place in mind. A healthy community prioritizes natural social cohesion through communal living, creating deeper solidarity between all members of the community, bridging demographic divides. Our Health Community programs deepens community bonds and relationships while continuing to center hyperlocal bonds and environmental sustainability.
