The BIA-NKY Enzweiler Building Institute (EBI) is the longest running and one of the largest post-secondary apprenticeship training programs under the auspices of the National Association of Home Builders in the country. The Program began in 1967 and continues to provide a well-trained workforce for the local construction industry. Many of the Association’s successful businesses are owned and operated by graduates of the Program. Classes in Carpentry, Diesel Mechanics, Electricity, Facilities Maintenance & Remodeling, Heating, Venting & Air Conditioning, Masonry, Plumbing, and Welding are taught by professional trades’ people each September through April. Students are in class two nights per week for three hours each night.

Enzweiler Building Institute is a registered apprenticeship program in Kentucky, recognized by the US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration. It is also licensed by the Kentucky Commission for Proprietary Education, 500 Mero Street, 4th Floor, Frankfort, KY 40601.

While attending the EBI as an adult is significantly less expensive than going to a traditional 4-year university, tuition can still be a hardship for our students. Each year we approach corporations and individuals to help us with scholarship opportunities to support students in need.

In 2023, EBI will open our second location in Latonia! This is such an exciting project as the location lifts many barriers previously challenging for potential students. This additional location will have a positive impact on the residents in this area as well as our industry as a whole. We still have a funding gap on the initial costs associated with the build-out. We are looking for support to finish underwriting the remainder of these expenses.
