Equality Maryland Foundation Inc

For  25 years, Equality Maryland has organized, rallied, and lobbied for LGBT rights and freedom within the state. Over the years we have secured non-discrimination laws at the state level protecting sexual orientation, local laws protecting transgender individuals, a state hate crimes laws that includes sexual orientation and gender identity, early victories for domestic partners, and most recently winning marriage equality in the legislature and the ballot box.

But we can't rest because there are many LGBT people in our community who still haven't seen justice.

• More than half of all transgender people in our state can still be fired or denied housing for being who they are.
• Marriage equality may be the law of the Maryland but there are still 600 state-level laws and policies on the books that we are working on to make sure same-sex couples are treated equally.
• Future challenges for LGBT people include issues in education, healh care, wages, immigration, aging, and other policy areas where we face inequality and discrimination. We must continue to fight for equality for all.
