ESR has been helping horses, ponies, and donkeys for nearly 10 years. We aren't the largest organization, but we do a nice job without a lot of waste and overhead.

One of our board members happened to drive past a house and noticed an appaloosa standing in a blackberry patch obviously looking for anything to eat. She approached the owner and was able to purchase the nearly starved horse for a few cents per pound.

On inspection, Taku was not only starved, but had a series of open, seeping wounds from the barbed wire fencing bounding the property and strewn about in his "paddock".

Although nearly ferall, Taku was more than willing to step into the trailier and a new life.

After some initial treatment of his wounds, he was released into a 3 acre field - still alone - but surrounded by grass - he whinnied loudly to the horses in the back fields.

6 months later, after feeding up, healing up, a dental, hoof care, lots of baths, rides to the river - Taku was adopted by a great family in Snohomish and is still a much beloved family trail horse.

We run our organization with dedicated professionals top to bottom and the result is a well broke, well adjusted family horse that will be a treasured companion until the end.

Our horses live in herd settings with large open air sheds and raised paddocks for those rainy winters.

Not all horses and ponies get placed or are suitable for every situation. We provide sanctuary for those until the right situation comes along for them.

We purchase supplies in bulk, and our organization is 100% volunteer. Training is done by professionals and not volunteers to ensure that the horse has a complete foundation for family living.

We don't do dressage, sport ponies, three day eventing, or barrels.

We strive simply for a stable and calm family companion, one that can teach us about our bodies, mind, and souls!
