Program Overview: 

My name is Corey M. Dwyer. I am the CEO and Program Coordinator, for “Forward Progression Mentor Apprenticeship Program, Inc (FPMAP). We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization in South Carolina. Our mission is to assist young people between the ages of 11-20 years in reaching their full potential by providing character building, youth empowerment, and workforce preparation transitional training. Our goal is to provide a Positive Community for young people. We provide training sessions, discussions, activities, and events that focus on making young people more competitive, reliable and dependable as Students, Student-Athletes, employees, Entrepreneurs, and overall citizens.   Our Mentoring, Training and Apprenticeship program WILL better prepare high school students with real-world training, mentoring, and hands-on work experience. At the same time directing them into the appropriate college programs OR Career Field of their interest, by building strategies that will assist them in reaching their career goals.   

Program Outcomes: 

• A Positive Environment for Youth 14-18 years 

• Workforce Preparation Training: Providing much needed training that mentally transitions students into a career-building mentality.   

• Character Development Training: Students will cultivate positive social emotional behaviors, and ethical decision-making to assist with personal success.   

• Career Mentorship: Students will receive guidance from experienced professionals to assist with career development.   

• Building Career Pathways: Build a clear path to a high-skill, high-wage career. Areas included Healthcare, Information Technology, Advanced Manufacturing (Welding, Automotive Mechanic, Etc.), Finance & Business Services, Construction Skilled Trades, Education and Human Services, Etc. 

•  Real-World Experience: Learn directly from experienced professionals via Job Shadow and/or Apprenticeship Experience.

Who Can Apply for 10-Week PAID Apprenticeship Experience?

• High school students, Ages 15-18 years.   

• Must have 2.0 GPA or Higher.   

• Successfully complete Pre-requisite Requirements.  

• Students 18 years or higher must have successful completion of local background check. 

Max Group Size:

Serving 12-25 Students per 12-Week Apprenticeship Experience. 

4 Apprenticeship Terms per calendar year.   

How to Get Involved:

1. Attend FPMAP Workforce Preparation Character Development Transitional Training Sessions (MONDAYS from 6:00-7:30pm) 

2. Complete FPMAP Application Process with Program Coordinator.   

3. Interview & Orientation completed prior to Apprenticeship Placement.
