The organization provides these services free of charge for low income family’s children, youth, active military and veterans suffering with birth defects, facial scaring, facial abnormalities, and those that have suffered from war injuries.

One of the most memorable stories was that of a young boy with a significant lip disfigurement.  He had a tendency to be introverted and reserved  among others in his peer group.  When the surgery was completed and he saw the results, his first question was "when can I go outside and play".  This young man also had a misshaped nose and we informed him that we could also repair the nose, but only when he turned eighteen.  To no ones surprise, on his 18th Birthday, he knocked on the office door.  After, the surgery his question was "when can I start working-out".  Before and after each surgery we photographed the young man and what was most remarkable of all was the change, not in his nose or lip, but in his eyes.  The real difference could be seen in his eyes, there was a heightened level of self-esteem, a new vision and perception of what the future will offer.  Because of the Faces Foundation and supportors, like you, his life, as well as other with similar stories, has been impacted forever.

The vision of the Faces Foundation was cultivated and inspired in a warzone field hospital in Afghanistan.   A ten month old boy, with a prognosis, from local hospitals, that considered the case  hopeless. The childs parents, in final desperation, handed the little boy to Dr. Daron Preatzel, and ask him to save the boy. The young boy had fallen, face first, across a live 220 watt power line that was laying exposed on the ground near his home.  Months later, after experimenting with creative surgery techniques that resulted in the development of a new, future patented, procedure the young boy was returned alive and health to his parents.

The FACES Foundation is uniquely designed with the motto “Help Others Help the Community”.  In return for the surgery and services, patients who qualify, will be able to earn their surgery by Paying-it-Forward, donating their time to partnering non-profit organizations in the community.  Not only will the patients be able to donate their time, but friends and family will also be able to help by volunteering their own time.

Helping the patients dream come true through family and
friends efforts provides a sense of pride and self-worth.  By building and strengthening the community through services and education to healthier lifestyles the benefits are
distributed to everyone involved.
