Fair Wisconsin Education Fund

Fair Wisconsin Education Fund works to build a fair, safe, and inclusive Wisconsin for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people by advancing, achieving and protecting LGBTQ+ civil rights through education, movement capacity building, grassroots organizing, civic engagement, research, and legal challenge preparation. These efforts are designed to educate the general voting public, promote a politically active and effective LGBTQ+ community, and better inform policymakers on issues of importance to LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites.

This year, Fair Wisconsin is hoping to raise at least $5,000 for Give Out Day to support our year-round work on behalf of LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites!

Your contribution during the month of June will help fuel our efforts to bring an end to the harmful practice of conversion therapy, modernize state non-discrimination laws to include gender identity and expression, fully implement marriage equality and family recognition, promote health equity and economic justice, defend against anti-LGBTQ+ legislative attacks, and so much more.

It's a frightening time to be LGBTQ+ in America. We are witnessing an alarming rise in hate, violence, and misinformation across the country, particularly targeting transgender youth and their families. In 2023 alone, there have been more than 550 discriminatory bills introduced in state legislatures that seek to restrict basic human rights and freedoms, including right here in Wisconsin.

The recent attacks on our community should serve as a powerful reminder that equality is far from realized and cannot be taken for granted. All of us at Fair Wisconsin remain committed to promoting positive change and building a Wisconsin where all LGBTQ+ youth and adults can thrive.

Last year, we successfully blocked every piece of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation introduced in the Wisconsin State Legislature, including a ban on gender-affirming care and a bill that would have barred transgender youth from participating in school sports. With your support, we submitted 10,000 pages of testimony, made over 5,000 phone calls to state legislators' offices, united 50 organizations in coalition, and held a dozen rallies all over the state.  

We kept that momentum going into the 2022 midterm elections, implementing a robust statewide organizing plan and mobilizing LGBTQ+ voters and their allies to help deliver a decisive victory for pro-equality candidates. 

This year, we built on our success by keeping voters engaged through the spring elections and building power in local communities across Wisconsin. We also recently hosted our biennial grassroots advocacy day at the Capitol, which brought together over 100 LGBTQ+ leaders and their allies to engage with legislators on the issues facing our community.

There has never been a more important time to get involved in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. Your support will help ensure we have the resources we need to continue building a more welcoming, fair, and inclusive Wisconsin.

We envision a society in which all LGBTQ+ people are treated with dignity and respect. We're working day in and day out to make this a reality, but we need your support to get it done. Can we count you in?
