Families of Conviction

Families of Conviction is committed to providing inspiration, insight, and support to families separated by incarceration. One of our key areas of support is children of incarcerated parents, whom we affectionately call SuperSeeds, and we specifically support them through our SuperSeed career exploration programming and mentoring components.  

Future SuperSeed is our signature small-group mentoring program that focuses on creating a space for our youth ages 11-17 to authentically express themselves, build community, and learn new skills that will define what success looks like and entails. We believe that by exposing these youth to various experiences and fostering a strong village around them, we can help them to develop into well-rounded individuals who are capable of achieving their goals.

SuperSeed Sessions are designed to rewrite the narrative of children of incarcerated parents by identifying and cultivating the seeds of greatness that we know exist inside every child. Each session will connect the youth with hands-on learning and a semi-apprenticeship in a particular skill area. The sessions will also include a component of social-emotional learning support and conclude with a powerful healing circle.

At the heart of all of our programming, we desire to provide the following for each participant:

• Inspiration about what it takes to succeed, overcoming adversity, the power of using one’s skills/talents, and more! 

• Introduction to a “seed,” which is a talent, skill, or ability that the facilitator has and uses in life. 

• Hands-on practice with the new seed.
