FamilyFutures

FamilyFutures, a Rappahannock 501(c)3 nonprofit, is creating and implementing a unique financial education model for K-12 students that produces confident, financially-savvy adults. In partnership with Rappahannock County Public Schools, we create ambitious age-appropriate lessons that "nurture a strong mathematical and financial foundation in younger grades . . .scaffolding toward mastery of high-level economics and personal finance competencies . . . ." per RCPS Superintendent Grimsley. Each student is engaged in financial learning and taught about earning, saving, interest, and more through deposits to their personal savings account, which can grow up to $100 each year if they complete all learning activities offered.  Each year's entering kindergarten class member has a custodial account opened in their name with $100. By graduation, if they succeed in earning $100 each year for successful completion of financial lessons, they will have access to as much as $1,500 to spend on their next career, training, education, life steps.
