Family Health Care

Sharon Lee Family Health Care's mission is to provide health care and support services to all, including the medically indigent, in a nondiscriminatory manner and setting, dedicated to continuity with quality medical care.

 Family Health Care (FHC), a non-profit family practice safety net clinic, has served the people living in some of the poorest areas in Kansas City for more than thirty years.  The clinic provides charity care valued at more than a million dollars annually to needy people in the metropolitan area.  The staff offers hope and care to individuals, many of whom have nowhere else to turn for primary care and for treatment of chronic serious diseases. FHC provides care at the Rosedale (Southwest Boulevard) and Turner (South 51st Street) clinics in Wyandotte County, Kansas through more than 18,000 annual visits for medical, dental, mental health, and vision care for low-income and uninsured/underinsured patients. Family Health Care employees are committed to the mission of the organization and to continuously  improving services and expanding to better serve the growing number of vulnerable people in our care. 

FHC services support patients with  vital wrap around services including social services such as help with applications for disability and medicaid, food stamps and other local, State and Federal social assistance programs. FHC has a fully equipped gym with a 2,000 square feet aerobics floor staffed by fitness instructors and personal trainers. Other services include the FHC literacy program, medication assistance, legal aid, dental outreach and other programs and projects designed to help those we serve. Three nights weekly FHC hosts the JayDoc Free Clinic as a collaboration with the University of Kansas School of Medicine.  The FHC Pharmacy has locations off the lobby of both FHC clinics to help patients (who often lack transportation) access their prescription medicines.   

FHC hopes you will join the work to raise much-needed funds to support health care and social services for the vulnerable people in our care.  Missouri and Kansas have failed to approve expansion of Medicaid which currently leaves hundreds of thousands in each State with incomes less than the Federal Poverty Level who are without access to coverage for their health services.
