F.A.R.M DAYS was created to replace Corey's Day on the Farm after the Corey family decided to retire the event after 51 years of allowing kids with special needs the opportunity to experience farm activities and farm animals that they would not get to experience.
Corey's Day on the Farm started in 1968 after one of the family's dogs had puppies and the Corey's special-needs son, Danny, wanted to take the litter to show to his friends at school. During the school visit the Corey's noticed that the other children in Danny's class hadn't had much experience around animals and didn't quite know how to hold or interact with them.
So that day on their way home Nick and Coleta Corey talked about their experience in the classroom and from that Corey's Day on the Farm was born.
That same year the family invited Danny's school friends out to meet the animals on their farm. The event became an annual event and over the years outgrew their property, so the family moved the event to the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and later expanded the event into a two day event. The entire Corey family, including the grandchildren all, took part, along with about 200 volunteers.
The F.A.R.M. DAYS Event Team is very excited to continue this event in honor of the Corey family and what they gave to the Special Needs Community.
We have approximately 3000 that attend the 2 day event. 1200 students, 1600 teachers, parents and siblings along with 100 volunteers
