Boys Town is one of the nation’s largest privately funded organizations with over 2,700 employees dedicated to serving severely at-risk children and their families. Founded in 1917 by Father Edward Flanagan, the nonprofit, nonsectarian organization assists nearly 1.5 million at-risk children and families across the country each year through its youth, family, and health care programs.

Launched in 1990, Boys Town New York (BTNY), Inc. is a separate 501(c)(3) organization with its own Board of Directors. BTNY serves a culturally diverse population of adolescents from all five boroughs of New York City. These children have violated the law in some way and enter Boys Town treatment family services through the New York City Department of Juvenile Justice (now part of the Administration for Children’s Services). In 2009, Boys Town New York served 500 children through direct services, while 30,388 children and families in the metropolitan area were also assisted through our Integrated Continuum of Care, including the Boys Town National Hotline.
