Fern Street Community Arts Inc

Fern Street Community Arts (FSCA) serves families and transforms neighborhoods through performance and teaching of circus arts. Professional artists collaborate with learners and their families in neighborhood settings. Circus transcends barriers across cultures and languages, combines physical and theatrical skills, and merges the magnificent and the everyday.

Founded in 1990, Fern Street Circus (FSC), FSCA’s signature project, is a social circus, providing performance and creative youth development. Artists enliven public space with a vision of social change as expressed by circus community members. We explore circus as a street-level artform which celebrates the wonder of what humans can do.

In low income San Diego neighborhoods, FSC performs in parks and provides free instruction in community settings. FSCA resides in City Heights, San Diego’s most diverse neighborhood, where families would otherwise not have professional performance and enrichment programs.

Fern Street Circus has a new home! We have just moved into the auditorium and some classrooms in the former Central Elementary School campus. This is Fern Street's first-ever dedicated indoor space - and we are excited! Please see our campaign, "Fern Street Circus’ New Home!"
