Fitrah, derived from the Arabic language, means "a person's natural disposition at birth." 

Our organization's vision is straightforward: we believe that every young person, regardless of their race, religion, or gender, is born pure, innocent, and deserving of a future full of opportunities to grow and thrive.

At Fitrah, we believe in the power of paid, purposeful work to transform lives. Our youth-run social enterprise provides vulnerable and foster youth in Sacramento County with real-world experience, one-on-one mentorship, and the confidence to build a betterre.

Through our online book reselling business, youth earn a paycheck while gaining valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership. With increasing responsibility and personal mentorship, they begin to see—and believe in—their own potential.

We serve some of the most underserved youth in our community: those in or transitioning from foster care, experiencing homelessness, involved in the justice system or disconnected from school. Our two-phase program delivers measurable results by helping youth break down barriers and envision a future filled with purpose and opportunity.
