The mission of the Florida Historic Capitol Foundation is to provide monetary support, advocacy, and stewardship to promote the Florida Historic Capitol Museum and its program of civic education. Additionally, the Foundation's support will ensure the continued preservation of Florida's Historic Capitol building, a structure listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its great significance to local, state, and national history. The Florida Historic Capitol Museum serves to illuminate the past, present, and future connections between the people of Florida and their political institutions through programs of civic education, historic interpretation, and preservation. The Florida Historic Capitol was saved through citizens' action and was restored to its 1902 appearance. Architectural highlights include the elaborate art glass dome, red and white striped awnings, and a representation of the Florida State Seal over the entry columns.
