Floridas Singing Sons Inc

Florida Singing Sons (FSS) has been delighting South Florida audiences since it was founded in

Fort Lauderdale in 1975. Over the past forty-nine years, FSS has provided musical education to

thousands of South Florida students. Organized into four ensembles spanning second through

twelfth grade, FSS is an elite youth choir organization that showcases the transformative and

unifying power of choral music through a rich and varied repertoire. FSS students engage in a

rigorous music education program that results in university-level musicianship skills, thorough

understanding of vocal pedagogy and choral techniques, and life-changing personal growth.

FSS continues the tradition of classical composers like Bach and Handel by performing the

repertoire with an ensemble for which it was originally conceived – a choir of men and boys.

These historically informed performances have received extraordinary acclaim from audiences

both domestic and international. In 2022, girls were added to create a mixed choir, Chorale Soleil,

broadening the impact on the community. In addition to its own concert series, FSS is in high

demand for guest performances with other musical organizations. Previous collaborators

include the Master Chorale of South Florida, Florida Grand Opera, New World Symphony, and

Symphony of the Americas. FSS also performs domestic and international tours annually,

providing students with profound cultural experiences in locations like the United Kingdom,

France, Italy, Prague, South Africa, and most recently Spain.

FSS is committed to strengthening music education in South Florida and cultivating arts-aware

youth to be the leaders of tomorrow. By fostering the musical knowledge, education, and vocal

training of its members through performances and community events, FSS gives South Florida a

source of pride for the talent and professional achievements of its youth.

As we approach our 50th anniversary season, we reflect on nearly half a century of musical

excellence and educational impact. Since 1975, FSS has been a cornerstone of the South Florida

cultural scene, enriching the lives of countless students and audience members. Our upcoming

anniversary celebration will not only honor our rich history but also highlight our ongoing

commitment to musical education and performance excellence.
