Flying B Animal Rescue & Sanctuary was founded in honor of Carolyn's husband Tom Baker who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer in June 2023. Tom understood her profound love of animals, and wishing only for her happiness, urged her to pursue her dream of starting an animal rescue. In December 2023 the passion project began. The "Flying B" represents Tom watching over us from the heavens.

We quickly realized we were not going to rescue, shelter, or rehome our way out of the animal overpopulation problem in Ellis County. As part of our Community Outreach program, Flying B Animal Rescue & Sanctuary raises money to further our cause for responsible pet ownership by subsidizing already low-cost spay and neuter programs. Flying B partners with DeHart Vet Services, Spay Neuter Network, and TCAP to coordinate easily accessible events with "co-pays" of $25 for dogs and $10 for cats. The project is designed to serve socioeconomically disadvantaged pet owners, educate residents who do not understand the health benefits of fixing their pets, and addressing the needs of the rural residents whose large livestock guardian dogs make spay/neuter cost prohibitive. Our goal is to reduce the number of "accidental" litters that are at risk of becoming strays and continuing the cycle of unwanted animals in our community.

Flying B Animal Rescue & Sanctuary envisions a world where every animal is loved, cherished, and has a forever home. We envision a community where responsible pet ownership is championed, and all animals are valued members of society. Through our relentless dedication to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need, we aspire to inspire empathy, kindness, and respect towards all creatures, creating a brighter future for both animals and humans alike
