FRIENDS OF MORRISON KNUDSEN NATURE CENTER (DBA Friends of the MK Nature Center)

Friends of the MK Nature Center (FOMKNC) is a nonprofit organization developed to support and enhance the work of MK Nature Center in the community.

 

The MK Nature Center provides amazing educational experiences and wildlife viewing opportunities—right in the center of Boise—for school groups, children, adults and families.

 

The FOMKNC has had a great first year. Because of our many generous donors we have funded the hiring of an AmeriCorps member and the creation of a mosaic wall at the Nature Center. The AmeriCorps member is expanding the Nature Center's educational capacity, offering additional weekend and evening programs in addition to supporting daytime programming—engaging visitors in learning about and appreciating the natural world. The mosaic will depict animal and plant species and their interactions in a riparian zone—educating visitors and offering a beautiful work of public art for the community. 

 

We are now beginning to raise funds for a multi-phase signage project—educational/interpretive, directional and informational signage. We believe that the development of engaging, consistent and easily accessible information will create a more fun, more interactive and more educational experience for both school groups and families exploring the Nature Center on their own. In addition, we want to expand our Friends' membership!
