Mission

The Food Bank of Western New York's Mission is to "Obtain food and support from public or private sources and efficiently redistribute them to affiliated charitable providers feeding the hungry in Western New York". Since we opened our doors in 1982, we continue to work towards this goal. Through 415 affiliate charitable programs, we distribute approximately 950,000 pounds of food and grocery items monthly to more than 95,400 hungry and less fortunate individuals in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.

Programs

In addition to continuing to locate and redistribute food and grocery items to charitable sites providing food to the needy, the Food Bank of WNY has the following programs: Produce for the People via the Food Express delivery; Kids-in-the Kitchen and Good Cookin' which teach nutritional values, food safety handling and meal preparation skills; Kids-Helping-Other-Kids an educational based program with area schools to teach children the realities of hunger in our area and sponsor food drives. The Check Out Hunger campaign, Summer Harvest and Food 2 Families are major fund raisers. Food drives are on-going thoughout the year and a valuable source of needed products as hunger knows no season.
