Food for Kids Inc

 Food For Kids, Inc. has been a sponsor of the Child and Adult Care Food Program since 1988.  We are administered by the Department of Agriculture (USDA).   We work with licensed home day cares, child and adult day care centers and providers who are certified through Children’s Cabinet and Urban League by providing assistance in offering nutritious meals and snacks served to the children and adults in out-of-home care by offering partial reimbursement for the food that they feed the children and adults.  We feed over a thousand children and adults daily.  Often times these are the most nutritious meals that they will receive that day.  Our program has been very successful as we work with the home day care providers and directors of centers, the very important people who take care of our children,  as they are ensuring that they receive the proper nutrition that is vital to physical, intellectual and emotional development.  It will be through the help of the community that we will be able to provide education to the families of the children in care, provide hands on teaching tools for the providers who care for our children, offer educational and exercise materials for the children and get us closer to our goal in preventing childhood obesity while teaching good nutrition and healthy eating habits that begin in the early years.
