Footballhers Inc

 

Unlike most girls who were intrigued by the sport of football at a very young age, I was encouraged to put on pads with the boys and play.  From the ages 8-14, I played running back and defensive back in my small town of Killingly, Connecticut.  I never played or shared the field with another girl during my childhood, which made me wonder.  The girls that I grew up with loved football, yet never had the opportunity to play, learn, train and compete.  

Now that I am an adult, I have played in several women’s tackle, flag, and touch leagues all over the United States and even internationally.  In fact, women's tackle football is now played all over the world!

 

With all of the progress that women's football has made, there is still one thing missing...the ability for girls to play, learn, train and compete at a young age.  FootballHers, Inc. was created to provide the answer to this conundrum, by making football accessible to grade school girls.  

In partnership with USA Football, FootballHers, Inc. will launch a Girls Flag Football League in Philadelphia.  USA Football has had over 25,000 girls in 19 cities participate in girls flag football. For every $25 donated it will sponsor one player's USA Football Tuition.
