Our Reality

Currently, 80% of the 10,123,787 citizens in Haiti are living in poverty; 60% do not have access to basic healthcare. The streets have eroded to rubble, trash rampant over the streets and air thick with car pollution, smoke and dust. Sewage openly flows in moats that parallel the streets, poising risk for disease to the thousands of citizens walking and living on the streets. To think these outrageous facts were true before the earthquake in 2010 brings to perspective the devastation in Haiti. Some say the situation in Haiti has hit the point of no return, and that hope is extinct.

 

We beg to differ. We exist for those who have lost hope that Haiti can ever change. We exist for the people of Haiti. We exist for Hope.

 

Who are we?

We at For Hope International seek to empower Haitian health professionals to provide high-quality, sustainable medical care to underserved communities in Haiti. Our vision is “a renewed Haiti, one healthy community at a time.”

 

What do we do?

KÒMANSE: Discovering local solutions to local problems.

We firmly believe that the best solutions to the healthcare needs in Haiti lie with the people of Haiti themselves. Kòmanse is a year-long program consisting of a conference, workshops, and business plan competition constructed to empower Haitian medical professionals to design and implement their own healthcare solutions.

        Proposals will be presented to a panel of international judges who will select the most promising ideas based on their potential for innovation and sustainability. Winners will receive financial and professional support to help start or continue their ventures.

 

How can you help?

As a 5013(c) non-profit organization, all of our funding goes directly to our work in Haiti. Through empowerment of Haitian health professionals and provision of education and support, we seek to enable Haiti to sustainable improve it's nation's health. We ask that you give generously so that we can stand together for hope.
