Frederic Arts was created in 2009 with a mission to provide artistic opportunities and
preserve the cultural fabric of the community through educational programs and events.  We are non-profit led by a volunteer board and supported through the generosity of people who encourage our contributions to the community.  Our membership comes from throughout the region and even from out of state.  We are steadily expanding our catalog of classes and program events, and we want to be able to welcome everyone to the Frederic Arts Center.

A Main Floor Bathroom is NEEDED! 

Frederic Arts occupies a century old one-room schoolhouse that was moved into the village and repurposed as an American Legion Hall in the 1950s. The building is on an elevated block foundation with the only bathroom down narrow and dangerous steps into the basement.

In 2023, with the aid of Federal grant funding, we built a handicapped parking spot and an elevated sidewalk to our front door, making it possible for anyone to access our main floor.  Sadly, many people still cannot access our bathroom.  As we have continued to invite the public in with a variety of arts and music programming, the layout of our Arts Center facility has not provided the same reception to everyone.

Our goal is to make the Frederic Arts Center accessible to all people including older adults, young children,  and people with disabilities. We are an all-volunteer grassroots organization with limited resources to respond to this fundamental challenge to serving our growing audience.

Frederic Arts is making a difference in the community

KIDS      
Many of our programs and efforts are directed at providing creative endeavors for Frederic Youth.  

• In partnership with Frederic Schools, we offer art summer school each June.
• Our Young Artists Club, in conjunction with the Frederic Library, provides free hands-on classes in various art forms for children age 7+.
• Free painting or drawing kits are presented to all Frederic Elementary third graders each year.
• We host creative art projects for kids during the community Frederic Family Days celebration.
• Frederic H.S. Arts Program counts on our annual financial contribution to purchase essential artistic materials for students.

New in 2024 -  we are looking forward to working with St. Croix Festival Theatre to host one of their theatre camps for kids - Art-In-Action!

SENIORS
Frederic Arts volunteers initiate monthly artistic activities with the residents of Traditions of Frederic.  The social interaction and creative effort is a great stimulant for everyone involved and lots of fun too!

COMMUNITY 
Frederic Arts is committed to providing cultural and artistic opportunities for everyone in the area.  We engage the community at large through our public arts projects, work with seniors, classes, concerts, lectures,  involvement in Family Days, and other events throughout the year.  Public Art is a major component of our mission.  Recently, in conjunction with the Village of Frederic and the High School, we held a contest to design street banners for the Village.   The theme was "What I Love about Frederic".   4 Designs were selected and proudly hang  in downtown Frederic.

CLASSES

Classes for all ages and abilities are a mainstay of our effort.  We are constantly looking for ways to expand our offerings.  Pottery classes fill up fast now that we have five wheels.  We also offer batik, drawing, painting, weaving, and timber frame classes.  For the first time stained glass classes are available as well.

 Concerts - Everyone loves our music!

Our expanded concert series is very popular.  From May - September we offer concerts in our bandshell featuring local artists.  Food trucks and beverages for sale round out the experience.  The accoustics are so good even the village rents our bandshell for their concerts.  Everyone around turns out to enjoy the music and visit with friends and neighbors.  

This year we reinstated our winter house concert series as well.
