From its beginning as a small food closet in 1979, FISH has grown to be rural Nevada's largest and most complete human services provider. Our programs include a food bank, a clinic, shower and laundry facilities, two shelters, and a coaching and resource center. FISH provides a hand up instead of a handout--we help our clients achieve independence and self-sufficiency.

We will soon open a new facility in the Ranchos of Gardnerville, NV. It can be difficult for those facing hunger and poverty to travel to our main office in Carson City for services—so we are bringing our services to them!

The new facility features a Family Dining Room and a Coaching and Resource Center. The Family Dining Room provides free, hot, nutritious meals every day of the year. Each day the kitchen serves well-balanced and varied meals that provide enough calories and nutrition to sustain our clients even if it is the only meal they get for the day. Each dining room feeds an average of 125 people each night--and sometimes as many as 170!

The Coaching and Resource Center offers clients counseling and resources to regain their self-sufficiency. These programs allow FISH to develop relationships that provide hope and structure helping families and individuals improve their quality of life. Since all of our clients must create a personal action plan to receive on-going services, families who come to FISH usually leave more financially stable and with greater hope and dignity.

Your support will directly aid families working hard to get back on their feet. All donations from this page will be used to support the Ranchos facility with supplies, utilities, and quality food. Be a hero and give a hand up to this community today!
