Help Us meet our goal to Raise $20K for Abused & Neglected Children

  • Funding for therapists to help kids deal with abuse and provide the tools necessary to succeed in the life that lies ahead for them.
  • Provide additional funds to bridge state funding for purchases such as school supplies, backpacks and uniforms for school, in addition to activities that allow kids to be kids.
  • Allow us to buy clothes, bedding, hygiene products, and house supplies for the 30+ children we provide a safe haven for.

When Drew and Sierra arrived at Joshua House they were frightened and confused, both had been separated from their other siblings when entering foster care. Being the youngest in their families, at just 9 and 10 years old, they had been physically abused, terrorized, and had been forced to watch their father beat their mother through years of domestic violence. You could see the grief and anxiety in their eyes. It was if they had both lived through a war zone.

After only a few months at Joshua House, you could see the calm return to their demeanor. After a few more months, they were playing on the playground, laughing and joyous. They still have moments of sadness, they still experience the anxiety from violence in their lives…but, they are recovering. They are actually beginning to thrive again by improving academically and learning to trust.

With love and patience, and just the right type of therapy - we know that Drew and Sierra will be alright. But we need your help to make that happen. Join us in building a Therapeutic Sensory Room to help children suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) find serenity and calmness. This specially designed room helps them open up and achieve a great recovery rate. Your support is appreciated…actually, Drew and Sierra thank you from their hearts.

In 1992, a group of ordinary people did an extraordinary thing!  This group of concerned citizens including the late Dottie Berger MacKinnon, the late Bob Thomas, the late Olin Mott; and the surviving Jim Zimmerman, Laurence Hall, Greg Johnson, and Alberto de Alejos, came together to turn their dream of a safe haven for abused, abandoned, and neglected children into a reality. Their vision became Joshua House, which has since provided a safe haven for more than 1,650 children from across the Tampa Bay region.
