Fund Raising

Funds raised by the Friends are used to support ongoing projects (see below) as well as specific requests from the librarian, Children's Summer programs, and Volunteer Appreciation gifts. Recent fund raising events include:

  • Annual Perennial Plant Sale (May)
  • Annual Dessert Night
  • Refreshments sold at the Mini Mud Show at Chandler

Projects

  • New Baby Books - A new book is purchased to honor each child born or adopted in Randolph and Braintree. Each book is identified with a bookplate with the baby's name. A letter is sent to the family with a brochure about sharing books with children and informing them of the title of their child's book. This program encourages parents to make reading and visits to the library an important part of their child's life.
  • Day Care Book Bags - Participating home day care providers gain access to a variety of books throughout the year. The children's librarian makes book selections to fill each bag with twelve books. Volunteers deliver the bags to the day care centers and rotate them every two weeks. Through a grant and funds from the Friends, the Library purchases sturdy new bags from Currierware of Randolph.
