Friends of Lackota Animal Sanctuary

Friends of Lackota Animal Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary and rescue, located in northern Colorado that focuses mainly on rescuing horses, donkeys, and mules who have found themselves abandoned in the slaughter pipeline. Many of our rescues are senior and super seniors, or have injuries and chronic illnesses, preventing them from being a working asset during their previous ownership and are therefore dumped at kill lots or taken to livestock auction then bought by horse traders or kill buyers. These are animals are treated in humanely, abused, starved, and neglected until their untimely death on a kill truck to Mexico or Canada. After giving everything they have to their himand, they are thrown away. These horses, donkeys, and mules deserve the same love and compassion they have given their humans. 

Friends of Lackota Animal Sanctuary currently looks after 130+ horses, donkeys, and mules who are residing at our sanctuary and we need your help. With the help of donations, our community and amazing volunteers, we are able to offer them a sanctuary without fear or neglect. Some of our residents are able to be rehabilitated and adopted out to their forever homes, while a majority of them will live their lives here at the sanctuary due to age, ability, disability, chronic illness or various other reasons.
